I am not a breakfast person! Don’t get me wrong. I love scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, pancakes…the whole nine yards. I really just like them for lunch or supper. But there is one place that I will get up at the crack of dawn to eat breakfast at. Have you ever wondered who REALLY has the best pancakes in the Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area? It seems every pancake establishment in the area boasts theirs is the best. Well, I think the wait line at breakfast time to get into Pancake Pantry says it all. I’ve watched people wait outside, breath visible in the freezing cold just to eat breakfast at this cozy, little restaurant right in downtown Gatlinburg, TN. As their pamphlet invites, the “century-old brick, rich oak and rustic copper” goes along way in beckoning passers-by to come in and relax for a bit.
Pancake Pantry opened in 1960, becoming Tennessee’s very first pancake house, so they know a thing or two about pancakes. In fact, they have 24 different types, all made from scratch and served with real, whipped butter. Believe me! They taste amazing! But, if you are not a pancake lover, there are lots of other delicious breakfast items to choose from and gourmet sandwiches for lunch. Breakfast items are served all day, and lunch begins at 11:30 am. Just a little heads up… Pancake Pantry does not accept any kind of card, even debit, but an ATM is on site.
I hope you’ll try out Pancake Pantry on your next visit to Gatlinburg. I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed. How could all those people in line be wrong?
