Chilton County gathered at the new Chilton County Courthouse for a meaningful Memorial Day Service dedicated to honoring the local men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

More than just a ceremony, the event served as a reminder of the true purpose of Memorial Day a day set aside to remember those who never returned home from war. Families, veterans and community members filled the courthouse grounds as names from generations of American conflicts were read aloud, ensuring their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

The featured speaker was Lt. Colonel Willie Earl Robinson of the United States Army. He shared a personal story about how close he came to becoming a casualty of the September 11 attacks. He said that if his group had not changed conference rooms that day, the plane would have crashed directly into the room where he had originally been scheduled to meet.

Memorial Day ceremonies such as this ensure that the lives and legacies of these heroes will continue to be remembered for years to come.
