The spirit of unity, history, and community was on full display yesterday as everyone gathered to celebrate Juneteenth with a parade and community celebration.
The Juneteenth Parade featured more than 30 vehicles, including decorated cars and trucks. Spectators lined the parade route, waving, cheering, and celebrating the significance of the holiday.
Following the parade, participants gathered at E.M. Henry Park for an afternoon of fellowship, food, and celebration. Everyone enjoyed home cooked dishes, including wild hog barbecue. The gathering provided an opportunity for families and friends to come together and continue the celebration in a welcoming atmosphere. One of the highlights of the event was an address from Mr. Lenard Rogers, who served as the guest speaker. Rogers spoke about the importance of remembering history, honoring those who came before us, and continuing to build stronger communities through unity and understanding.
